“JOY BAGS”
Our “Joy Bag” campaign that we started last September is going strong! To date, we have delivered over 500 bags. The bags have been delivered to cancer patients at Swedish American Hospital and have been very well received.
For those of you not familiar with “joy bags”, this is a project we started in memory of Shelly’s mom, Nancy, who battled breast cancer for many years. During her long illness, she had a canvas bag that she kept her cards, letters and well-wishes in. She called it her “joy bag.” We are purchasing canvas tote bags, embellishing them, and delivering them to newly diagnosed cancer patients at one of our local hospitals. We will have dates and times in 2012 for people to come in and embellish the bags. No sewing is required! We would love to have you come in to help us with this project.

"PILLOWCASES FOR PEACE”
Employee Polly Black who has headed up the Pillowcases for Peace program for several years now, just received 110 pillowcases made by Marge Schnauffer & Roberta Flanery. Also, Shepherd of the Valley Church just donated 33! Another 20 were donated at a recent sewing retreat from various quilters. What wonderful generosity from so many people! So far, Polly has shipped over 1600 pillowcases to our troops serving our country!

We are always pleased to welcome bus tours in our shop! We have had the pleasure of meeting some very delightful quilters in the past and look forward to many more. We do offer a discount to quilters as well as door prizes, refreshments and special promotions throughout the shop. Please call us in advance so our staff will be prepared for your arrival.

Due to inclement weather, we may find it necessary to close our shop. If the Rockford School District 205 has a weather-related closing, chances are we will also be closed. Please phone ahead to see if we are open. We don’t want anyone risking an accident driving in hazardous road conditions.
